I can think of no greater love than that of a mother
towards her newborn child. Bone of her bones, flesh of her flesh… a bond is forged that is unbreakable.
I think of those first few weeks that Mary had with her newborn son. And not just any son… the very Son of God. How would she have felt in those quiet moments, holding Him close?
I dedicate this piece to all mothers. The light shining from above represents God’s divine favor. Mothers are in partnership with Him in bringing His children to earth. Then, if you blur your eyes a little, you will see the overall composition of the piece is ring shape of light circling from the top, through Mary’s head covering, her shoulder, the baby’s blanket, and back up to the top. This is symbolic of the connection between mother, child, and heaven… and how it is a never-ending circle of love.
