ARTIST NOTE: I have felt strongly led to utilize symbolism in my art work. There can be no doubt that what God has planned and prepared for his bride, the church, is unspeakably wonderful. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him."
Abiding's Symbolism Explained
THE BRIDE:
Christ's bride - the church..."His bride has made herself ready." (Revelation 19:7) We need to abide in God's presence until His ultimate purpose for all of creation is accomplished - His bride finally with Him for all of eternity.
THE GATE:
The Hebrew letters "YHWH" formed the personal name of God in the Old Testament. Pronounced "Yahweh", the vowels were omitted because the name was considered too sacred to be spoken. The name is a form of the Hebrew verb "to be" and has the meaning of "the one who is always present."
SCRIPTURES ON THE STEPS:
Just as the scriptures on the face of the steps are surrounding Christ's bride, in like fashion, the truth of God's word surrounds the Christian with instruction, correction and encouragement, along with God's unfailing promises.
THE MONUMENT:
Luke 12:37 "...there will be great joy for those who are ready and waiting for His return. He himself [Jesus] will seat them and put on a waiter's uniform and serve them as they sit and eat!"
THE FOUNTAIN (TRINITY):
"Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life." Revelation 22:17
CROWN:......Represents the Father. "The Father will receive the kingdom." 1 Corinthians 15:24
BANNER:....Represents Jesus. "...Having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." Colossians 2:15
ALPHA &...Represents Jesus. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was,
OMEGA: and who is to come, the Almighty." Revelation 1:8
FIRE:...........Represents the Holy Spirit. "They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit..." Acts 2:3
DOVE:..........Represents the Holy Spirit. "And He [Jesus] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove..." Matthew 3:16
